Welcome back to our weekly blog, another productive week lots of plant deliveries, wood processing and fry ups !
As you have most likely gathered our main aim this time of year is to get every available storage place full to the brim with firewood, not only allowing it to dry out but to give us a good head start for the winter months. Early next week we will be coming to the end of filling one of the main barns which as you can see from the photo attached below is a lot of firewood. This for us is the first real visual representation of us making good progress for the coming months.
One attachment we have which I would like to touch on is our Lasco rotating log grab. Now this section might be more for those interested in the technicalities or machinery in general. This log grab is an absolute game changer for us at Japonica and greatly increases productivity, not only does this grab allow us to handle much larger volumes of timber at one compared to our previous grab it also allows us to rotate, twist and even up-end timber in order to re-organise it ready to be loaded on to the deck. It is a relatively operator friendly piece of equipment due to being able to slow down and speed up the hydraulics allowing you to get faster as you feel comfortable.
Unfortunately the nursery has been slower than usual this week due to a road closure at the bottom end of our Lane, understandably this is not great for business however it has given the two ladies who work in the nursery some time to get on top of re-organising, spacing and checking over plants. We have also had plenty of fresh stock in this week so please take a look and follow our Facebook page to keep updated on our newest stock (Japonica nursery). We are starting to really move into the more flowery spring plants now including all bedding plants, hydrangeas and Lavandula angustifolia.
Hopefully next week we will be out and about looking at some more timber to buy so we should be able to include how that went in next weeks blog. Until then from the team at Japonica we hope you all have a great week and following previous blogs if any of you have anything you would like us to cover please don't hesitate to get in touch.
