One of our busiest weeks so far in terms of both firewood and plant deliveries, alongside out buying timber and of course processing firewood.
The week started with delivery number one of four for the plant deliveries, this delivery included plenty of bedding, shrubs and some small trees. As usual the lorry was unloaded, empty trolleys returned then Debbie set to work finding space for these plants and making sure the where all in good condition. Our main aim is to always keep the nursery looking as fresh and tidy as possible as though it was our own garden therefore if any plants do come in that are not quite up to standard we either reduce them to sell them quickly or return them to the supplier to allow room for nice fresh stock. You can keep up to date on our latest plant deliveries on our Facebook page (Japonica nursery) further more you can contact us through this website for any enquiries.
As mentioned in the previous blog we went to look at some more firewood to buy in order to use throughout the winter, all went well and we had the first two loads delivered in the yard ready for processing and it looks like some good stuff in order to create top quality firewood for yourselves. In terms of the firewood processing we are nearly there now with the first barn so this will now be left to season throughout the summer ensuring come the colder months we have a constant supply of dry firewood. We aim to keep the process as environmentally as possible, for example we try and not handle the wood to many times so once its processed and put into the barns its then only moved again when its loaded on the van to be delivered to the customer. We also only air/barn dry all of our firewood meaning we do use kilns or hot air blowers to force dry the wood which in our opinion if you have the storage space is the most efficient way of drying wood albeit a slightly longer process.
Later on this week we had a few local log deliveries to do as we now have a few loads available on our website for you to purchase. As always we use our forklift to rotate the cages out into our log cleaner to clean the wood of any fine pieces once it is loaded the van is then sheeted over to protect from the weather and stop any pieces falling off, then of to the customer where its tipped up in the desired spot. I have attached a video below of the cleaner if any of you are interested to see this.
From all the team at Japonica we hope you all had a great week and once again Thankyou for reading and we look forward to updating you again next week.
