Around the easter bank holiday is an extremely busy time for us, the firewood deliveries are still going out the door followed by the plant sales now picking up it creates a rather hectic few weeks. However nothing we can't handle !
The week started of with a delivery of our first lot of colourful plants for the season ie Dianthus "pink kisses" and some osteospernums alongside some shrubs and some amazing clematis "avalanche". With each delivery we firstly have to unload the lorry, check the plants to make sure they where as described and in good condition. We then return the empty trolleys and proceed to unpack the delivery finding appropriate space and location for each plants and watering where required. From now on we generally have one if not two deliveries per week for the whole of the season to keep fresh and new stock for you all to browse.
We have also been preparing space in one of our barns in order to store more wood and make the most out of the storage areas we have available. One of the ways we do this is once the logs have been processed and tipped into the barn we then load them onto a 7 metre conveyor in order to get them piled up as high as possible. As we expanding as a business year upon year we are needing more and more storage in order to have enough dry wood at any given time. This is just one of the ways we are maximising our storage alongside the IBC cages which have been mentioned previously.
Other than this we have just been getting on with processing, deliveries and the general day to day duties at Japonica.
With this now being the third blog post we hope you are enjoying a small insight into life at japonica and we encourage for those of you that read our blog to suggest anything you would like to see included in the weekly posts. Thankyou for reading and we hope you have a fabulous easter weekend and we look forward to seeing those of you that come in over the weekend.
